Firestarter Challenge
![]()
The Firestarter Challenge will return January 2nd with a new format. Everyday exercises will be posted. Poems or pieces of flash fiction (try to keep it under 1000 words) written from those exercises may be submitted until, say midnight of December 31st, which is technically the first of January. Indicate which exercise the piece came from, and the best piece will win the prize, as well as a short list published with their own little prizes. 2008’s prize will be $100. Entry is free, and you can submit up to five pieces. And the best part, it’s free. All we ask is permission to put the poem up on the blog, which doesn’t count as publication, since this is a blog and not an online magazine, so you can still send it off with kisses to the Paris Review or Lullwater Review or San Diego Poets and Artists. Wherever. We’ll keep a log of all the exercises for the month here, by category, so check in, see if any entice you, and write it. See you guys in the new year!
