If anyone else loved the Mario Kart Love Song as much as us… MP3 time

Saturday, December 6th, 2008

We’ve been playing that Mario Kart Love Song video  like ten times a day, so we decided to make an mp3 of it. Looked through our installed software, then realized that the internet being what it is, there are probably 5 different rips of it as mp3 and avi on 1,224 sites. And we found one fairly quickly. But, to make that search quicker for you, and avoid any accidental Mario Kart porn to taint (heh) your Mario Kart Love Song enjoyment, here is a direct link to a place you can download a pretty good quality mp3.

Laugh of the Day: Wanna B Ur Lovr

Wednesday, September 17th, 2008

Now, I’ve never seen Buffy the TV show, which for someone who loves Firefly is an odd thing to say, but I came across this very well done fan video for Buffy that uses the hilarious Weird Al song “Wanna B Ur Lovr” and had to post it. The song is almost like a writing exercise in itself: Write a song that is wholly composed of cheesy pick up lines and innuendos.

IncendiaryLit.Muxtape.com! Check out the often changing Incendiary Lit Muxtape

Saturday, May 31st, 2008

We’ll be trying to change the songs on incendiarylit.muxtape.com which is the new Incendiary Lit Muxtape, to translate that crazy html internets language for the non tech savvy. Haha. Right now there’s a wide mix. Joe Hisiashi next to Jason Castro next to Sage Francis next to Lily Allen. But it’ll change in a few days. If we ever remove something you liked let us know and we’ll put it back up for you. Word is barn. Moo.Cow sticking out its tongue. Farms yo.

Subtle Vonnegut reference in a hip hop song of the week: Mac Lethal

Sunday, April 13th, 2008

“I’ve arrived to clean your pill drawer out,
and talk to birds like Kilgore Trout.” -Mac Lethal in Crazy from his album 11:11.

Also, later in the song:

“I can now invent my engine for the hard shelled truths
served in a barbell brute version of Marcel Proust…”

Mac Lethal’s been a favorite of mine for quite awhile, since I saw him on Sage Francis’ “Fuck Clear Channel” tour. Got Love Potion collection… which number I don’t remember. There was a lot of good songs on it. 11:11’s no different. Very odd lyrics at times, but he’s got a gift with the sonics for sure, and most of his songs you have to listen to a few times through (despite actually annunciating his words, unlike many rappers) to catch everything because he can be dense, and drop allusions to Run DMC and Ken Kesey within seconds of each other. I highly recommend 11:11, and if you can find a copy of”My Angel Veronica”, also, highly recommend it. That’s all for now.

New poll videos!!!

Sunday, September 23rd, 2007

The new poll is less literary than the previous ones, but we think it’s more fun. Which is the best adaptation of a rap song in a video. Ben Folds, Dynamite Hack, Jenny Owen Youngs and Jonathan Coulton compete for the prestigious “Best video for an adaptation of a rap song as sayeth the Incendiary Lit readers” award. Click read more to see the videos. (more…)

Listen to this: Jenny Owens Youngs

Monday, August 27th, 2007

On our little player thingy is a song called “F**k was I” by Jenny Owen Youngs, it was featured on the wonderful Showtime dramedy “Weeds” and the lyrics are beautiful (though the “F” word is used in the chorus, hopefully everyone can see past that little bit of crassness), and I believe, more than most songs, they stand up on the page, utilizing fresh metaphors that you don’t find in most music these days. She also has a great version of Nelly’s “Hot in Herre” posted on her myspace page.

As further proof, I will now offer the lyrics to  the song mentioned. Here are the lyrics to “F**k was I”:
