More exercises to keep you busy:

Write a kind of surreal/magic realism piece where something utterly extraordinary (or a few things) happen but everyone just kind of goes with it.

Write a piece involving you, a friend (or enemy, someone you know) and someone famous (and someone who will remain famous, avoid pop stars or most tv stars, or try it and maybe it’ll be awesome, but politicians, big (actual actor) movie stars, famous scientists, Einstein etc. If the person’s alive come into contact with them, if they’re dead, come into contact with something/where they’ve had a lot of exposure to. Can be small, this was James Dean’s handkerchief, or you could get into a scuffle with them over foreign policy.

Write a poem as a series of escalating toasts at the bar. (here’s to you, here’s to everyone in this place, here’s to that crazy Iranian guy down the street who has twenty cats and a squirrel!” or something.)
